EEC provides critical wireless communications support during California wild fires

MARLBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS – November 07, 2007 – Electronic Environments Corporation (EEC), a specialized facility management company supporting mission critical IT and Telecommunication Infrastructures, provided around-the-clock support services to major wireless communication carriers and government agencies during the Southern California wild fires.  Striving to keep wireless communications uninterrupted, EEC’s technical personnel worked day and night responding to emergency service calls, and performing generator refuels and deployments high in the California Mountains.

Electronic Environments CEO, Kenneth Rapoport, recognized the dedication and courage of EEC’s employees.  “EEC operates specialized all-terrain propane trucks to reach remote mountain top sites such as Santiago Peak in Southern California.  Federal authorities were dropping a mixture of water and nitrogen-heavy fertilizer on both communication towers and narrow switch-back paths allowing EEC personnel to reach the tower sites.  Our drivers, while aware of the potential dangers of hauling an explosive gas to within hundreds of feet of active fire lines, felt the responsibility to help keep critical wireless communication systems operating.  EEC took every possible precaution to protect their employees, but nonetheless, I commend their bravery for volunteering for these assignments.”

Since 1999, EEC has been providing wireless cell site maintenance for all the major wireless carriers in some of the busiest and most sensitive areas of the United States, such as the Boston to Washington DC corridor and Southern California.  EEC’s services include: preventive maintenance, 7x24 emergency response, and environmental compliance related to cell site generators, batteries, air conditioning, fire suppression, and general site conditions.   Ken Muche, a Verizon Wireless spokesman, was quoted in the November 5, 2007, issue of RCR Wireless News crediting the “clearing of brush (an EEC maintenance task) around cell sites as one factor that helped the carrier lose none of its physical towers” in the Southern California Region.

“24x7x365 EEC personnel stand behind the most reliable IT and Telecom systems in the United States.  We believe our sole focus on Infrastructure Reliability contributes to the everyday safety and security people have come to expect during times of natural and man-made disaster,” stated Kenneth Rapoport.

Electronic Environments Corporation (EEC), founded in 1986, is headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts.   EEC is a national specialized facility management company focused on meeting the power and cooling needs (UPS, Batteries, DC Power, HVAC, Standby Generation, and Fire Protection Systems) of 24 x 7 IT and Telecom mission critical facilities.   EEC’s solutions offer clients a single source for fully integrated design, engineering, construction, and maintenance services.  EEC has offices located throughout the U.S. in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
