EEC recognized for safety excellence by Associated Builders and Contractors

MARLBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS,-- June 20, 2007 – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) awarded Electronic Environments Corporation (EEC) with its national Safety Training and Evaluation Program (STEP) “Platinum” level award for 2006.  EEC is a repeat recipient of the STEP award; receiving Platinum three years in a row, and Gold for its previous year’s performances.  The STEP award is presented to those companies recognized as having an outstanding commitment to jobsite safety.  Doug Markey, EEC’s Environmental and Safety Compliance Manager, accepted the award on behalf of EEC at the Gould Construction Institute (GCI) /ABC Safety and Education Night held at Montvale Plaza in Stoneham, MA, on May 17, 2007.  (Doug is pictured on the right with ABC award representatives)

The STEP process provides a unique approach to recognizing the safety achievements of ABC member firms.  Two important criteria are taken into consideration for the award: (1) statistical information such as incident rates, lost time, company MOD, and OSHA records during 2006, and (2) a safety audit consisting of twenty key components of a company safety program.  This information is an important part of the scoring, and also tells the company where they stand and to what level they can “STEP up” too.

In addition to the STEP awards, the night included celebrating GCI’s instructors and students.  Three EEC technicians; David Dauphinee, Doug LaMothe, and Dan Smithurst were on hand and  recognized for graduating from the apprenticeship program, and receiving their Massachusetts HVAC contractors license.  In addition to Massachusetts, Doug also received his Rhode Island and Connecticut HVAC licenses.  Also recognized were: Keith Paul for his efforts as EEC’s HVAC state approved instructor, and for passing his contractor license in MA, CT, and RI while teaching the code class to our apprentices; and Doug Markey EEC’s OSHA 10 hour construction instructor.

Michael Kingsley, President of EEC, stated “Receiving this prestigious award, in consecutive years, is a testament to the dedication of our people, and our safety programs.  We are very proud of this recognition, and dually proud of the efforts put forth by our employees.  In a service organization the most fundamental asset is its people; and David, Doug, Keith, Dan, and Doug are the type of employees that help to set EEC apart from other service companies .”
